Everyone’s got to admit. The WWE writers walk on the edge of the Nostradamus line regarding prophecies and long-term storytelling. Who anticipated that Triple H would come out with something creative with Tyrese Haliburton and Jalen Brunson clashing during a segment on SmackDown?
With the two NBA superstars going head-to-head in the Eastern Conference Finals, they broke kayfabe and will go all in for the contest.
It got fans talking, and many revisited their feud inside the ring as they squared off against each other. Accordingly, Triple H took credit for the storytelling and commented on X with the pictures of both basketball players.

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals commences on May 21, as the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have a bone to pick with each other. The last time the Knicks reached the Conference Finals, the Pacers handed them a 4-2 loss. It’s time for revenge, and WWE plotted the script ten months ago.
Triple H posted on X, “It’s almost like we wrote it…” after Brunson and Haliburton’s interference during a triple threat match on SmackDown.

In a match where Logan Paul, Santos Escobar, and LA Knight faced off with each other, there was a point in the contest where Haliburton got entangled. Paul instructed Haliburton to get an object from his partner, Jeff Levin, who handed him brass knuckles.
In WWE terms, it’s a typical heel move to claim the victory using an unfair advantage. Haliburton played the heel role to perfection with the show in Madison Square Garden, the Knicks’ home. Go figure who got the most heat!
Just when Haliburton knocked the steel steps with the brass knuckles, Brunson, who sat ringside, left his seat and leaped over the barricade. Before this, Haliburton and Brunson had a staring contest as the crowd erupted for Brunson.
The crowd erupted after Brunson jumped off the barricade, and the commentators lost it. Soon, the officials had to separate the two point guards as the match continued. Knight rolled up Paul to get a priceless victory, and then Haliburton and Paul demonstrated their heel side.
They surrounded Knight in the ring, and Brunson came in with a steel chair. Tossing the chair inside, he appeared to have hurt his finger (the Knicks sighed a breath of relief) but regained his composure and stayed in character as the baby face.
Although the NBA teams would probably not allow their players to indulge in a physical battle because they pose injury risks, it has become a long-term storytelling for the future, culminating in the Eastern Conference Finals this year.
