Who Are Tre Johnson’s Siblings? Get To Know the 2025 NBA Draft Prospect’s Brothers

if you're wondering where Tre Johnson gets his basketball talent from, look no further than the Johnsons, as his father used to be a hooper.

The season reached its culmination in historic fashion on Sunday as the Indiana Pacers took on Oklahoma City for Game 7 of the NBA Finals. And, while that will put a pause on NBA basketball for a while, the next opportunity to see hoops from the league will come on July 10 when the Summer League kicks off. And one of the players that is guaranteed to be a feature in Las Vegas is the shooting guard coming out of Texas, Tre Johnson.

Johnson, who is expected to be a lottery pick in this year’s draft, averaged 19.9 points across his only season at Texas, leading freshmen across the country in scoring. While that is impressive on its own accord, the Texas guard’s efficiency from beyond the arc and the free throw line makes the stat a tad bit sweeter.

But if you’re wondering where Tre Johnson gets his basketball talent from, look no further than the Johnsons, as his father used to be a hooper back in the day.

Who Are Tre Johnson’s Siblings?

Tre’s father, Richard Johnson Jr., played college basketball at Baylor University before transferring to Midwestern State. Johnson Jr. had a successful college career, scoring over 1,100 points and shooting over 38.8% from three-point range.

Beyond his playing days, Johnson Jr. has been a crucial figure in Tre’s development, acting as a mentor and trainer for his son. Richard is currently an assistant coach at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, Texas, where Tre played for three seasons.

While his dad’s basketball acumen rubbed off strongly on Tre, the same can’t be said about his brothers for now. Tre has two younger siblings, Royce Johnson and Jamari Riley, and there are no publicly available sources that show they play basketball like their elder brother or dad.

Being younger than Tre, it could be the case that if his brothers do play basketball, they are in a state of development right now and might pop onto the scene a couple of years later. As for now, however, Tre remains the only active hooper in the family, and he is now looking to put the family name on the NBA map.

Tre was amongst the 13 players who received an invite to the green room by the NBA, signaling a strong showing in the draft combine that has left scouts and organizations impressed. But, as Johnson looks to make a successful transition to the league, he must address the concerns around his ability to shoot from inside the arc in order to sustain a career at the biggest stage.
