What Is ‘The Best Tip’ Anthony Edwards Received From Michael Jordan?

Speaking to reporters earlier, the T-Wolves star guard revealed what he learned from Michael Jordan earlier this summer.

“I think the best tip that he gave me is that most people lean on people in the post with their a**, and he does it with the top part of his back,” Edwards said. “So I think I learned that from him.”

In the same vein, he also clarified his relationship with Jordan. “Nah, we don’t really have a relationship like y’all think we got one right now. It’ll come in years to come, but right now it’s through somebody.”

Jordan’s advice on attacking in the post was all about leverage, and it’s interesting to see if Edwards can add to his naturally aggressive game this season. He comes off a stellar 2024-25 season, averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He shot 44.7% from the field and 39.5% from the three-point line.

Over the years, the All-Star guard has showcased his explosive athleticism and fearlessness about barreling to the rim. An improved midrange helps him inch another step closer to becoming a well-rounded player.

Earlier, a former NBA star, Kendrick Perkins, made a bold claim on Edwards’ potential. “I’m saying to myself, Anthony Edwards is going to win a championship before Luka Dončić,” he said on ESPN’s First Take. “Anthony Edwards is built different. Anthony Edwards is a better all-around basketball player than Luka Dončić.”

Minnesota will be banking on Edwards to maintain his form as they look to make their first NBA Finals and get their hands on the elusive silverware. His playmaking and shot-making will be key for the side as they contend in a tough Western Conference.

Edwards and the Timberwolves have proven gamewinners in the experienced Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert. The trio boasts of immense two-way potential, and after their impressive run last season, they are expected to be legitimate title contenders alongside the OKC Thunder in the West. It remains to be seen if Edwards can stay healthy and exceed expectations.
