Thunder Predicted To Add 6’9″ ‘Massive Point Guard’ To Loaded Young Core With No. 15 Pick in 2025 NBA Draft

The Oklahoma City Thunder are predicted to select a "massive" and versatile point guard with the No. 15 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Oklahoma City Thunder just erased a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter of Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets to take a 3-2 lead in their second-round series. It was another display of dominance from the young OKC squad that has impressed all year. The No. 1 seed in the Western Conference has a solid roster and a bright future.

Given that their roster is already loaded, it’s fair to wonder what the Thunder plan to do with their two draft picks: No. 15 and No. 24. In PFSN’s latest 2025 NBA Mock Draft, Oklahoma City is projected to use its first pick to bolster its young core with a versatile point guard.

Thunder Projected To Select BYU’s Egor Demin With No. 15 Pick in 2025 NBA Draft

Oklahoma City has plenty of options at No. 15, but one name stands out: BYU guard Egor Demin. The 19-year-old has shown up in several mock drafts as a potential Thunder selection, and he could be a solid addition to their bench unit.

“Egor Demin’s positional versatility is his most enticing attribute, and no team is more familiar with having massive switchable players than the Oklahoma City Thunder,” PFSN analyst Sterling Xie wrote.

“At 6’9″ and 190 pounds, the BYU standout is a massive point guard who smartly leverages his size advantage on offense. He demonstrates terrific ball-handling skills and vision for a player of his size, in the mold of what former Thunder lottery prospect Giddey was as a prospect.”

At one point, Demin was being discussed as a possible top-10 pick. However, concerns about his unreliable jump shot dipped his draft stock.

“He shot just 27.3% from 3 and 69.5% from the free throw line this season, a troubling sign for his development in that area,” Xie added. “Demin is active off-ball as a cutter, and his athleticism allows him to finish at the rim, but that’s the extent of his offensive productivity right now.

“Regardless, his body type and athleticism fit what the Thunder typically look for. Oklahoma City had success developing Luguentz Dort from a non-shooter when he first entered the NBA into a capable 3-and-D stud. If he approaches his ceiling, Demin could be another stingy cog in the NBA’s best defensive machine.”

The Russian averaged 10.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds at BYU and showed flashes of playmaking brilliance and defensive upside.

Though his shooting numbers are a red flag, NBA teams value size and versatility, and Demin’s rare blend of length, athleticism, and ball-handling ability could make him a perfect addition for the Thunder, who could develop him gradually.
