The Phoenix Suns are looking at a major overhaul this offseason. With a new head coach and Kevin Durant’s possible departure, the team is looking to rebuild steadily.
As reported by NBA insider Shams Charania, the Suns hired Jordan Ott as their new coach to replace Mike Budenholzer. Fans had a mixed reaction, with many hoping for a more experienced coach.
Of course, there were levels of processing before Ott was finalized, including opinions from significant members of the Suns community.

Suns Leaned on Those Who Matter for Crucial Decision
Devin Booker has cemented his place in Phoenix as a crucial part of the team. He is looking to lead the team and has integrated himself into front-office decisions.
Suns insider John Gambadoro shared a report on the same, revealing that Booker and Steve Nash influenced the decision.
What they liked about Ott was work ethic/drive and a different level of sophistication with his offensive system than the other candidates. Got seal of approval from Devin Booker. And Steve Nash had very positive feedback as well.

Booker Is Looking To Establish Himself As the ‘Cornerstone’ in Phoenix
“The Stein Line has learned that Suns star Devin Booker has had a level of involvement with candidates in this stage of interviews, further illustrating the owner Mat Ishbia’s loudly stated determination to keep Booker in place as the team’s cornerstone. It’s believed Ishbia will have face-to-face discussions next week with the candidates (likely two) who progress from this round,” Stein reported before Ott was selected.
