When Is Stephen Curry Coming Back? Shams Charania Announces Upsetting News On Warriors Star’s Return

Stephen Curry’s return from a knee injury faces another delay, extending his absence and complicating the Warriors' playoff push.

Stephen Curry’s return timeline has taken another setback. Just hours before the Golden State Warriors faced the Washington Wizards on March 27, a new update confirmed more delay in his recovery.

The latest news adds to growing concern about whether Curry could return in time as the Warriors continue to fight for a postseason spot without their star guard.

Stephen Curry’s Return Delayed Again as Injury Recovery Slows Down

Shams Charania shared the update on Friday, March 27, and confirmed that Curry’s absence will extend further.

“Golden State’s Stephen Curry will be re-examined next week as he attempts to ramp up again with his ailing knee, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. This extends his prolonged absence to at least 25 straight games after he was unable to scrimmage this week as previously hoped.”

Anthony Slater then added more details while replying to the update, adding that Curry is still pushing hard to make a comeback before the regular season ends.

“Steph Curry has not given up hope on returning late this regular season, per sources. Officially ruled out through the Denver game on Sunday. He’s still trying to get the Rick Celebrini green light to scrimmage in coming days,” Slater wrote.

Curry last played on January 30, 2026. He is dealing with a right knee injury called “runner’s knee,” also known as patellofemoral pain syndrome,e with bone bruising.

Because of this, he has already missed 23 straight games and will now miss at least two more. These include Friday’s game against the Washington Wizards and Sunday’s game against the Denver Nuggets.

Another key point is that Curry has still not been able to take part in five-on-five scrimmages. Earlier in the week, he was unable to get clearance for a full scrimmage as the team had previously hoped. Since then, he has continued to control on-court workouts and rehabilitation under the team’s medical staff.

This delay in Curry’s return comes at a crucial time for the Golden State Warriors. The team has only 9 regular-season games left.

They are currently 10th in the Western Conference with a 35-38 record. They are also two games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth spot.

The team’s performance clearly shows Curry’s importance. The Warriors are 23-16 when he plays. In comparison, they are just 12-22 without him.

Looking ahead, the best-case scenario for Curry’s return could be April 1 against the San Antonio Spurs. However, his re-evaluation timeline has already been extended multiple times, which makes the situation uncertain.

Head coach Steve Kerr has already made it clear that the team will not rush Curry back before he is fully healthy.

On the season, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. Even with the setbacks, Curry has always been hopeful about returning.

“If we have stuff to play for, we play. So I’m working to get back,” Curry has said.

For now, the Warriors remain in a difficult position. Their postseason hopes depend heavily on Curry’s return and his fitness when he comes back.
