Stephen Curry recently recalled a legendary moment in his career in which he overlooked LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Curry is widely viewed as the greatest long-distance shooter in league history. He is a four-time NBA champion, much like James. The numerous Finals matchups in which Durant, Curry, and James shared the court are still remembered vividly by veteran fans.
All three generational talents had the opportunity to play on the same team last year. This occurred when they were allowed to represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The international basketball community was mesmerized, as it turned out to be Curry, not James or Durant, who went “hero mode” to help Team USA win the gold medal.
During a recent episode of James’ popular podcast, “Mind the Game,” Curry made a special guest appearance. Both James and Curry discussed their success in the final stages of the Olympics with former NBA star Steve Nash.
Stephen Curry Breaks Down His Unreal Hot Streak in the Paris 2024 Olympics
Given that both James and Durant are widely regarded as two of the greatest scorers in basketball history, many expected Curry to defer to them, particularly under the pressure of the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball final
Team USA faced France, a formidable opponent featuring elite talent, including rising star Victor Wembanyama. One pivotal moment occurred with 36 seconds remaining and Team USA leading 93–87. As Curry was double-teamed by Nicolas Batum and Evan Fournier, he sank a contested 3-pointer that effectively sealed the victory.
Curry reflected on the moment, saying, “I still remember laughing at the picture of you and KD over there with your hands up. (That) one…Whatever.”
.@stephencurry30 still can’t stop laughing at this picture and @kingjames can’t believe he took this shot in Paris.

James followed with a lighthearted anecdote, recalling how Curry’s shot led to his signature “night-night” celebration as he ran in the opposite direction. He joked that the celebration nearly cost Team USA, as Curry mistakenly thought a timeout had been called and briefly stopped playing.
Curry connected on four clutch 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, including a step-back and the heavily contested shot over two defenders that extended Team USA’s lead to 96–87 and effectively secured the victory.
Durant and Devin Booker each scored 15 points, while LeBron James added 14 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds. Wembanyama paced France with a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds, while Guerschon Yabusele contributed 20 points.
