After returning to action following an illness-related absence, Stephen Curry spoke about his current health status and shared his thoughts on his availability moving forward.
The Golden State Warriors have struggled to gain momentum to start the season. They hold a 6-6 record — one they’ll need to improve significantly to strengthen their playoff bid. Despite hopes for a strong start to the 2025-26 season, Curry was sidelined for three games due to illness.
He finally suited up again in the Warriors’ recent clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a contest that ended in a 126-102 win for the defending champions. After the game, Curry provided an update on how he’s feeling.
Will Stephen Curry’s Illness Continue to Impact His Availability?
Curry’s illness kept him out of three games, during which the Warriors dropped matchups to the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets.
In his return against Oklahoma City, Curry logged just 20 minutes of playing time, finishing with 11 points and one rebound. He hit four of 13 shots, including one of five from beyond the arc, while also dealing with foul trouble.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Curry reflected on his performance and health, saying he wouldn’t use his illness as an excuse for the loss. Still, he admitted that bouncing back and regaining game rhythm wasn’t as easy as he initially expected.
The four-time NBA champion also assured Warriors fans that he plans to suit up for the second game of their back-to-back against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
“It was alright. Anytime you have a cold, you can probably still hear it, but anytime you have a cold, … dealing with that, sitting in bed for two days, it takes a little bit to get back. But I felt great physically. Just trying to get your wind back was the biggest deal,” Curry said.

Curry is not listed on the Warriors’ most recent injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Spurs, which designates Jonathan Kuminga as questionable, Quinten Post as probable, and De’Anthony Melton as out. The Spurs, meanwhile, are in better shape health-wise, with only rookie Dylan Harper sidelined.
While Curry is expected to play, Golden State fans hope he’ll look sharper as the Warriors take on the Spurs, who at 8-2 hold the second-best record in the Western Conference.
