Stephen Curry sustained a right quadriceps contusion and muscle strain on Nov. 26 when the Golden State Warriors faced the Houston Rockets. While Curry finished the game, he returned to the locker room limping.
Since the injury, he did not play in the Warriors’ next game against the New Orleans Pelicans last Saturday. According to the injury report, the Warriors star is expected to be out for at least a week.
However, a recent update from an NBA insider might disappoint some Warriors fans.
Stephen Curry Set to Miss More Games Than Expected
According to NBA insider Anthony Slater, Curry’s recovery will take longer than initially expected. Early reports suggested the Warriors star would return when Golden State faces the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 6.
However, it appears Curry’s right quadriceps contusion and muscle strain are more severe than anticipated. Slater believes the guard is likely to return after Golden State’s short break during the NBA Cup.
This means Curry is expected to return by Dec. 12, when the Warriors take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Slater also reported that Curry is working hard to recover as quickly as possible. The insider spotted the Warriors star in the weight room, doing conditioning and weight training for his injuries.
“I saw him in the weight room the other night,” Slater reported. “He’s wearing a leg sleeve over that thigh contusion, he’s doing the bike, he’s doing some weight stuff, but he hasn’t been on the court. He’s kind of obsessive about keeping his body in as good a condition as possible, to get back as quickly as possible.”
“But he’s still a little bit away,” Slater continued. “After this road trip, they have a four-day break during that Cup week because they’re not in the Cup. That could be a good use (to rest and recover) for these veterans.”

While Slater indicated that Curry is likely to return after the NBA Cup, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr clarified that his star player does not have a definite return date yet. The Warriors face the league-leading Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, a huge test with Curry out, followed by a three-game road trip.
