Stephen Curry Confirms Heartbreaking Injury News As Warriors Suffer Huge Blow During Timberwolves Series

Golden State Warriors fans are devastated to hear the latest injury update on Stephen Curry. Despite playing through a thumb injury and leading the Warriors past the Rockets in the first round, Curry sustained a noncontact hamstring injury in Game 1 of their second-round matchup against the Timberwolves.

Since there appeared to be no real impact or collision, many Warriors fans likely held out hope that the Warriors’ star would be able to return to his team quickly. While that is still possible, a recent interview in which he spoke about his injury paints a grim picture of the entire situation.

Warriors’ Curry Speaks About Injury Return

Curry is 37 years old and has dominated the NBA for several years. His body’s ability to heal and bounce back from injuries has slowed down and cannot be compared to that of younger athletes.

While it was already reported that Curry would miss Game 2 of the Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves series, he revealed that his injury would be re-evaluated in a week. He simply did not sound too optimistic when discussing his recovery process.

“This is new, and from all that I’m learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process. That’s just the way the body works. You can’t accelerate it more than what it’s telling you. So it will be one of those after a week really reevaluating every day to kind of understand when it’s safe just to even think about playing, let alone how much can you push it.”

The Warriors veteran confirmed that this was truly the first hamstring injury he has sustained in his basketball career. Therefore, he has no real experience with injuries of this nature, making it impossible to establish a return window.

As things stand, the Warriors have a 1-0 lead in the series. With Game 2 on the verge of beginning, this series is expected to be extended and could even go to seven games. While Curry is unlikely to participate for Game 3, he might be able to suit up for Game 4 and the remainder of the series.

Since Curry has been playing at an elite level despite approaching the end of his career, the expectations on him to make a comeback are quite extraordinary. Without him on the court, Jimmy Butler III, Draymond Green, and the rest of the Warriors might not have enough firepower to get past the Timberwolves. Warriors fans are left praying that Curry can make a quick recovery and rejoin his team.
