The Golden State Warriors are on the ropes as they are trailing 3-1 in their second-round playoff battle against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Despite strong efforts from supporting players like Jimmy Butler III and Buddy Hield, averaging 21.0 points and 16.5 points in the second round, respectively, the team has been clearly missing the heart and soul of their franchise: Stephen Curry.
With the series slipping away fast, Warriors fans finally have a glimmer of hope — an NBA insider just dropped a major injury update on Curry that could change everything.
NBA Insider Reveals Current State of Curry
According to NBC Sports’ Dalton Johnson, Curry is ramping up his recovery and is expected to participate in light on-court workouts and shooting drills in the coming days. While he hasn’t been cleared for full contact yet, Johnson reports that Curry will be re-evaluated soon.

The two-time MVP suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain during Game 1 on May 6. The injury occurred in the second quarter after Curry drilled a deep three-pointer and moments later, while defending on the other end, he appeared to tweak something in his leg.
Though he managed to stay on the court long enough to sink a push shot, Curry clearly wasn’t right. He signaled to the bench and limped off to the locker room. He was quickly ruled out for Game 2, and team officials later confirmed he’d miss multiple games due to the strain.
Before the injury Curry was averaging 22.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in the postseason, once again proving his value as the Warriors’ engine on both ends of the floor. Since his departure Golden State has failed to secure a single win against Minnesota, dropping three straight games and struggling to find rhythm on offense.
So, is Curry returning in Game 5? Unfortunately for Warriors fans, the answer is no — at least not yet. He is set to be re-evaluated just a day before a potential Game 6.
However now with the season hanging by a thread, the latest update from Johnson is still the breath of fresh air Dub Nation has been waiting for.
Another Insider Had a Similar Injury Update Regarding Curry
While the latest injury update from NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson came as a breath of fresh air for Warriors fans, it wasn’t the only optimistic report circulating. Another prominent NBA insider had echoed a similar timeline.
On a recent episode of “NBA Countdown” on ESPN, insider Shams Charania revealed that Curry could return as early as Game 6.
“Stephen Curry is back in San Francisco, and he’s receiving a ton of treatment on that hamstring strain. There is still plenty of work to be done to get him to the point of movement, contact, running, and sprinting… Buy Stephen Curry some time. Internally, there is uncertainty. I’m told the Warriors are really looking at that Game 6 as the earliest potential window for Stephen Curry’s return,” said Charania on NBA Countdown.
During the regular season, the two-time MVP averaged 24.5 points and 6.0 assists per game, consistently being the heartbeat of the offense. If Curry indeed makes his return by Game 6, it could be the jolt Golden State needs to turn the tide but now everything depends on the Warriors’ performance in tonight’s Game 5 first.
