Stephen Curry went down in Game 1 against Minnesota with a hamstring injury that ended his season. Now, months later, the Warriors superstar is finally talking about his recovery and what comes next for Golden State.
How Quickly Did Stephen Curry Return to Basketball After His Injury?
After participating in the American Century Championship, Curry recently appeared on a golf podcast. He offered an encouraging update on his fitness after suffering a hamstring injury at the end of the 2024-25 season.
The Warriors lost Curry in Game 1 of the playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves after the MVPÂ suffered a non-contact injury. He was later diagnosed with a hamstring strain and missed the rest of the series, suffering an unfortunate end to his season.
“Uh, like a week after the season. Let the hamstring heal for real, a little bit. Thankfully, um, I got four months before basketball to get it right, but. Tough, tough, tough way to go out, but we’ll be back next year,” Curry answered when questioned on his status.
During an interview with ESPN following his early exit from the playoffs, similar to his statement here, the Golden State star shared that he wasn’t trying to rush himself back from injury, despite finding it like a ‘gut punch’ to be unable to help his team.
Curry added, “And I know how tricky hamstrings can be, where they can fool you and think that it’s healed even if you don’t feel anything. And so that gray area is a little, will be confusing, I’m sure, but I’ll do everything in my power to get back as soon as possible.”
What Does Curry’s Golf Performance Tell Us About His Recovery?
After shooting a 58 throughout three rounds of the tournament, the Warriors star would not come to retake his crown. Instead, he finished in a respectable 5th position after former soccer star Taylor Twellman. The competition winner was NHL star Joe Pavelski, who dominated from day one.

Curry’s participation in the American Century Championship and subsequent injury update have been rare positives in an otherwise bleak offseason for the Warriors. The team still has not made a single move in free agency.
Why Haven’t the Warriors Made Any Moves This Offseason?
According to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania, despite being linked to the likes of Al Horford, their offseason is completely reliant on the situation surrounding Jonathan Kuminga and whether they can reach an agreement.
“The Warriors have not made a move yet this offseason because a lot of what they’re going to do, or trying to do, hinges on [Jonathan Kuminga’s] restricted free agency,” the ESPNÂ insider explained.
Multiple teams are reportedly monitoring Kuminga and are in a position to offer him more money and a bigger role. Still, the Warriors don’t want to let him walk unless they can get something in return, having already turned down an offer from the Sacramento Kings.
“I hope the future’s bright for him, whether it’s here, whether it’s wherever, knowing that he’s a guy in this league that can continue to, you know, climb that ladder on his own pace,” Curry shared his opinion on Kuminga in a press conference back in May.
While things look bleak for the Warriors, fans can rely on Curry to improve things. With his most recent injury update offering some kind of positivity, fans of the franchise can at least look forward to seeing him back at full fitness in 2025-26.
