LeBron James’ decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers left the entire basketball world stunned, including WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark.
The 41-year-old spurned interest from the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat to join the 76ers on a two-year, $8 million contract
Caitlin Clark Reacts to LeBron James Joining the Philadelphia 76ers
Ahead of the WNBA All-Star Game, Clark shared her disappointment by claiming she wanted James to link up with former rivals Stephen Curry and Draymond Green at Golden State. However, she is excited to see how the four-time NBA champion fares in the City of Brotherly Love.
Clark also believes that the 76ers now have arguably the most talented roster in the Eastern Conference, with James joining Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and V. J. Edgecombe in Philadelphia.
“I wanted [him to join] the Warriors because Steph and LeBron would have been absolutely insane together. But they have some serious sound on the 76ers. Arguably one of the favorites in the East now. Wow,” Clark said during her press conference on Friday.
Clark also expressed surprise at James’ decision to move to Philadelphia, saying she expected him to return to the Heat or the Cavaliers. The Heat and the Cavaliers were said to be leading the race to sign James, but he opted for a move to Philly in a bid to win a fifth NBA championship.
“I thought he was going to go to Miami or Cleveland. So that’s really shocking. But I’ll be watching more 76ers games now. Obviously, I’m a big fan of LeBron. No matter where he was going to go, I was going to probably cheer for that team,” Clark added.

The Indiana Fever guard further shared that she is looking forward to watching James and the 76ers face the Pacers next season.
“I’m going to go wait for the NBA schedule to come out and make sure I have my tickets reserved for when the 76ers come play the Pacers,” she said.
After eight years with the Los Angeles Lakers, James is set to script the final chapter of his NBA career with the 76ers. Having already achieved nearly everything there is to achieve in the sport of basketball, the four-time NBA MVP will be eager to bow out on a high note by leading the 76ers to their first championship since 1983.
