Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards Show Mutual Respect After Heated Series

After the Thunder sealed a 124-94 blowout win in Game 5 to clinch the Western Conference title, Gilgeous-Alexander and Edwards showed why the NBA’s future is in good hands. In a now-viral clip shared by ESPN, the two rising stars embraced on the court and appeared to share a genuine exchange of admiration.

It was a simple gesture, but one that spoke volumes. Despite battling fiercely for five games, SGA and Ant left it all on the floor.

Gilgeous-Alexander led his squad like the MVP he is. With 34 points on 14-of-25 shooting in Game 5 and a postseason average of 29.8 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.7 rebounds, he’s proving night after night that he’s the leader this Thunder team rallies around when it matters most.

Edwards, meanwhile, gave everything he had, even if the last two games didn’t go his way. He finished Game 5 with 19 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Just one game earlier, he had come under fire for a rough night – 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting and five turnovers.

But the embrace showed that respect goes beyond the box score. It was a moment of sportsmanship between two of the league’s brightest young stars who just wrapped up a battle for the ages.

Thunder’s Statement Win Pushed Them a Step Closer to NBA Championship

The Thunder dominated the Timberwolves from the start, taking a 65-32 lead into halftime, the largest lead in franchise playoff history. Their defense was suffocating, holding Minnesota to just 31.6% shooting in the first half alone.

Oklahoma City’s Big Three – SGA, Jalen Williams (19 points), and Chet Holmgren (22 points), all delivered. But Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with efficient buckets and calm leadership.

And let’s not forget Alex Caruso. The veteran guard remained the defensive engine, notching four steals while adding eight points. His intensity has given the Thunder’s young core a postseason edge.

With the win, OKC closes out the Western Conference Finals 4-1 and moves one step closer to ending their long-standing championship drought. They now wait for the winner of the Indiana Pacers – New York Knicks series, where the Pacers leads 3-1 heading into Game 5 at Madison Square Garden.

SGA’s Thunder came into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed with the league’s best record at 68-14. They’ve lived up to that hype, but as SGA and Edwards showed us postgame, greatness isn’t just measured in rings – it’s also in respect.
