Russell Westbrook Sets the Record Straight That He’s the ‘Most Athletic’ Player of All Time

The Sacramento Kings are having a rough one this season. A 13-46 record is tough to look at, and sitting dead last in the Western Conference is not exactly where anyone wants to be.

But even in the middle of all that struggle, one guy keeps showing up and giving everything he has. That guy is Russell Westbrook. Recently, he had some things to say about himself that got people talking.

Russell Westbrook’s Confident Stance Is Making Waves on the Internet

In a recent interview, Westbrook was asked an unusual question. The interviewer asked him if he had ever wished he were athletic.

As soon as he heard that, Westbrook gave a confused look. It was clear from his reaction that the question didn’t make much sense to him.

“Do I wish?… What do you mean by I wish?” Westbrook asked.

The interviewer repeated the same question, “Do you ever wish you were athletic?”

After that brief, confused pause, Westbrook answered confidently. He said that he has always been athletic and never had to wish for it.

“I am the most athletic, all-time… Ever don’t even question that. Better check the numbers. Most dunks. Never mind, I’m gonna stop right there,” Westbrook added.

Now, the enthusiasm was great. The passion was there. But the stats? Not quite.

Westbrook does not have the most dunks in NBA history. Not even close. In fact, Westbrook is not even in the top five on that list. That record belongs to Dwight Howard, who has thrown down 2,950 dunks over his career. Behind him sits Shaquille O’Neal with 2,626. So that particular claim did not exactly land the way he intended.

Even though he got that stat wrong, you cannot ignore what Westbrook has been doing on the court this season.

Just about a month ago, in a game against the Phoenix Suns, he scored 17 points and, in doing so, he passed Oscar Robertson to become the highest-scoring point guard in NBA history.

Robertson had 26,710 points over his entire career, which is already an unbelievable number. Westbrook now sits at 27,038 points and is still going. That puts him at 14th on the all-time scoring list across the entire league, not just point guards.

Right now, he is averaging 15.1 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game. That is a good stat line for any player, let alone someone on a team that is struggling this badly.

Whether or not he truly is the most athletic player of all time may be debated, but one thing is certain. It is that Westbrook has never stopped proving his worth.
