Rudy Gobert Made His Feelings Clear About Minnesota Timberwolves Trade

Rudy Gobert was asked about the Minnesota Timberwolves trading Mike Conley.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been one of the most relevant teams in the Western Conference for three seasons.

One of the reasons for their success over the last two years has been the play of Mike Conley.

However, the former Ohio State star is averaging just 4.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest while shooting 32.2% from the field and 32.1% from three-point range in 44 games this year.

Rudy Gobert Comments On Minnesota Timberwolves Trading Mike Conley

On Tuesday, Conley was traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of a three-team deal.

Via Timberwolves.com: “The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has acquired cash considerations as part of a multi-team deal with the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons. The Timberwolves will send guard Mike Conley to the Bulls and a protected future first round pick swap to the Pistons in the deal.”

Following the trade, Rudy Gobert was asked for his feelings.

Via Chris Hine of The Minnesota Star Tribune: “Here’s Rudy Gobert at shootaround today talking about the Mike Conley trade. Rudy said it was weird seeing an empty seat on the bus to the arena.”

Conley and Gobert were also teammates on the Utah Jazz, so they have had a long history playing next to one another.

Over part of four seasons in Minnesota, Conley had averages of 9.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 41.3% from three-point range in 215 games.

Chris Haynes reported an update on Conley following the trade.

Via Haynes: “Sources: Veteran guard Mike Conley Jr. isn’t expected to stick with the Chicago Bulls. Both sides will work on proper path to move forward. Conley will be a target for a team in need of point guard depth.”

As for Gobert, he is in his fourth season playing for Minnesota.

He is averaging 10.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 blocks per contest while shooting 70.3% from the field in 49 games.

Right now, the Timberwolves are the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 31-20 record in 51 games.

They have gone 4-6 over their last ten games.

On Wednesday, the Timberwolves will visit the Toronto Raptors in Canada.
