Quentin Grimes Fantasy Outlook: Should You Draft the Philadelphia 76ers Shooting Guard This Year?

Should you draft Quentin Grimes in fantasy basketball this year? Latest fantasy projection for the Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard.

It’s the final weekend before the NBA regular season begins, which means you’re coming here for your fantasy basketball drafts.

Should you draft Quentin Grimes this season? Here’s the latest outlook, projections, and rankings for the Philadelphia 76ers Shooting Guard.

Should You Draft Quentin Grimes in Fantasy Basketball?

In February, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Quentin Grimes in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks, and Grimes played the best basketball of his career over the second half of the season. He averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.9 3-pointers, and 1.5 steals in 33.7 minutes per game, while shooting 46.9% from the field, 37.3% from 3-point range, and 75.2% from the free-throw line.

This offseason, Grimes and the 76ers couldn’t agree to a long-term contract, so he signed the one-year, $8.7 million qualifying offer to remain in Philadelphia. Grimes will be motivated to have a big contract year before entering unrestricted free agency next offseason. Last year, the 76ers were decimated by injuries, which allowed Grimes to take on a larger role.

Still, the 25-year-old is an intruiging late-round flier given his potential and what he showed late last season. He’s a solid depth piece and, if injuries strike again, it’s good to know that he can make the most of his increased opportunity if his number is called.

Moussa Diabaté, PF/C, CHA

Moussa Diabaté is entering his fourth NBA season and his second with the Charlotte Hornets. He is the last center standing with Charlotte after the team moved on from Mark Williams (now with the Phoenix Suns), Jusuf Nurkic (Utah Jazz), and Nick Richards (Suns).

In 71 games last season, he averaged 5.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 0.6 blocks, and 0.6 steals in 17.5 minutes per game while shooting 59.6% from the field. In eight games as a starter, Diabaté put up 7.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steal, and 0.6 blocks in 28.4 minutes per game.

The big question is whether he will lose his starting job (or significant minutes) to Ryan Kalkbrenner, who was drafted by the Hornets with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Kalkbrenner was a four-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year and has a lot of upside. Diabaté could be an intriguing late-round flier given his upside and the flashes he showed as a starter (particularly as a rebounder), but he’s probably more of a waiver-wire target and streaming option.
