When discussing athletes who are “underrated,” Pascal Siakam’s name echoes every time he takes to the court. He’s played with two teams in his NBA career — the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers — and taken them to greater heights on both occasions. He gave the Raptors their first NBA title in 2019 and is on his way to potentially doing the same with the Pacers.
Earning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Siakam excited the crowd with his top-class plays and solid interior defense to bring the Pacers to the Finals. While we know much about his on-court persona, who are the family members, especially his siblings, who played a crucial part in his upbringing?
Who Are Pascal Siakam’s Siblings?
Siakam had three older brothers and two sisters who played a critical role in his upbringing. All of his brothers played basketball in the United States after migrating from Cameroon. His parents, Tchamo and Victorie Siakam, raised their children well and kept them grounded. However, tragedy struck when Pascal’s father passed away in an unfortunate car crash in 2014.
But the children rose from their tragic loss. His eldest brother, Boris Siakam, played basketball in the NCAA circuit like his other brothers. He played for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds, but he did not reach NBA heights.
Later, Christian Siakam tried his hand at basketball and donned the colors of the IU Indianapolis Jaguars for five years. During those five years, he scored 5.9 points and 4.2 rebounds and had a slightly better career than his elder brother. Christian was more social among the brothers and loved to interact with people.
During a 2023 interview with The Athletic, Pascal highlighted Christian’s persona and said, “He’s problematic. He’s a little nutcase. He’s always been like that. Being one of the older guys in the family, having a lot of siblings, I think you have to be that voice sometimes.”
However, they have a tight-knit relationship, with Christian assisting Pascal in all of his needs, especially early in his career when the latter did not even have a driver’s license.
“Christian would give his life for Pascal,” said former Raptors 905 head coach and Raptors assistant Patrick Mutombo via The Athletic. “He would sacrifice his life for Pascal.”
Next came James Siakam, who played for the Vanderbilt Commodores and averaged 5.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in his career.
When everyone thought Christian would make it big, Pascal came forward with a mental fortitude to win, earning ECF MVP in 2025 en route to his second Finals appearance.
Likewise, his two sisters, Vanessa and Raïssa, played a crucial role in helping Pascal get into basketball with the Basketball Without Borders camp in South Africa. Meanwhile, Raïssa held the fort together at times, broke the news of her father’s untimely passing to everyone in the family, and kept everyone together.
Pascal’s siblings paved the way for him to have a glorious NBA career. Though he was the last to love the game, he continues to shoulder the ambitions of the entire family.
