Nolan Traore’s Basketball Family: Meet the 2025 NBA Draft Prospect’s Siblings Armel and AnnaĆ«lle

Nolan Traore's basketball family includes NBA veteran brother Armel and rising sister Annaƫlle as the French guard prepares for the 2025 NBA Draft.

French basketball player Nolan Traore is widely projected as a late first-round to early second-round selection in the 2025 NBA draft. Most mock drafts place the Saint-Quentin point guard in the mid-first round, with ESPN’s latest projection ranking him 18th overall. He was a top 5 projection last year, but inconsistency affected his latest ranking.

Born on May 28, 2006, Traore is the second of three children. The 19-year-old’s older brother and younger sister also play basketball, influencing his development as a player. After four seasons with the Centre FĆ©dĆ©ral in France’s third-tier league, Traore signed with Saint-Quentin last season.

He played seven games, averaging 11.5 points and 4.9 assists per game. The teenager also made history by scoring 25 points in a single game, setting the all-time league record for most points scored by a player under 18.

Who Are Nolan Traore’s Siblings?

Traore’s parents, whose names have not been publicly disclosed, have an athletic background that passed on to their three children. With basketball’s popularity soaring in France thanks to the rise of Victor Wembanyama, Traore appears poised to be the next breakout star from the country. As interest builds ahead of his 2025 NBA Draft selection, attention has also turned to his siblings.

Armel, Nolan’s older brother, was born on Jan 23, 2003, at CrĆ©teil, Val-de-Marne, France. The 22-year-old, who is 6’9″, towers over his younger brother, who is 6’4″. Like his younger brother, Armel began his professional career with the Centre FĆ©dĆ©ral.

Armel played for two clubs in the LNB Pro A, France’s top tier league. He played for the Metropolitans 92 and ADA Blois and had a loan stint with ALM Ɖvreux of the LNB Pro B, the second division.

The 22-year-old was not picked in the 2024 NBA Draft, but the Los Angeles Lakers signed him to a two-way contract in July 2024. Last season, he played for their G-League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. The Lakers waived him in February 2025, after which he signed with BĆ squet Manresa of the Liga ACB, the top tier of Spanish professional basketball.

With good performances overseas, Armel could potentially return to the NBA. Following Olivier and Alexandre Sarr, they could become the second French sibling duo in the NBA. Interestingly, both sets of siblings have mirrored trajectories, with the younger brother earning more early success. Alexandre was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team, while Olivier has mostly played in the G League.

Rising Star AnnaĆ«lle Follows Her Brothers’ Path

Nolan’s younger sister, AnnaĆ«lle, is also a budding athlete. Currently training at the PĆ“le Espoirs Ǝle-de-France, a French program designed to develop athletes without losing academics, the youngest Traore sibling looks forward to following her brothers’ path.

Nolan’s elite speed and ball-handling skills have earned him comparisons to John Wall and D’Aaron Fox. Although a good offensive threat, the teenager often struggles on defense, particularly against more vigorous opponents. Despite having average height for a point guard, Nolan appears to lack strength compared to more physical competition.

Jump shots and turnovers have been significant concerns for the Frenchman. Though turnovers are often associated with his carrying a huge chunk of the team’s offense, cutting them down is essential if Nolan hopes to justify his draft stock and carve out a lasting NBA career.
