Nikola Jokić is doing things that don’t seem real. Just when you think he’s peaked, the Denver Nuggets superstar adds another page to the history books.
This season, he’s pulled off something only two legends in NBA history have ever done—yet somehow, he’s still not the favorite for MVP. With numbers that are downright unbelievable, Jokic just made a massive statement without saying a word.
Jokić Joins Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson in Rare Triple-Double Club
On Friday April 11, against the Memphis Grizzlies, Jokić officially locked in a season-long triple-double average—becoming just the third player in NBA history to achieve the feat.
NBA writer Tim Reynolds summed it up best on X:
“Denver’s Nikola Jokic has clinched a triple-double average for the season, the third player in NBA history to achieve such a feat. He joins Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson as the only players to do it.”

The moment came early during the game, as Jokic tallied his fourth assist of the night, his 700th of the season and cementing at least 10 assists per game across 70 games.
Jokić didn’t stop there. He finished with yet another triple-double: 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 assists in a 117-109 win. That marked his 34th triple-double of the season. Jokić is now averaging 29.8 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 10.3 assists—monster numbers that make his MVP case nearly impossible to ignore.
Jokić Still Trails Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in MVP Race
Despite being an unstoppable force throughout the season, Jokić isn’t leading the MVP ladder. That spot still belongs to Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who’s averaging 32.7 points, five rebounds, and 6.4 assists, and will finish as the league’s top scorer.
Jokic, currently second in that list, needed 73 points across his final two games to hit a 30.0 scoring average and join Westbrook and Robertson in another exclusive club—those with a 30-point triple-double season.
He is within reach to grab that record as well as the Nuggets are slated to play their last game against the Houston Rockets on April 13.
Earlier this month, Jokić dropped a career-high 61 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves – most points scored by a player this season. And even before that, he recorded a 31-21-22 stat line against the Phoenix Suns—becoming the first player in NBA history to hit a 30/20/20 triple-double.
The Nuggets star has already won three MVPs in the last four seasons. Whether he wins this year or not, this campaign may have sealed his status as a top-10 player ever. And he’s still only 30.
