Julius Erving remains one of the most beloved players in all of NBA (and ABA) history.
The Philadelphia 76ers icon last played in the league during the 1986-87 season. That said, he has remained involved in the game in many different ways since retiring.

On Sunday, Erving celebrated his 76th birthday.

Erving won two titles in the ABA with the New York Nets before his eventual move to the NBA with the 76ers.

Over 11 NBA seasons (all with the 76ers), the Hall of Fame forward had career averages of 22.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks per contest while shooting 50.7% from the field in 836 games.
During the 1983 season, Erving led the 76ers to the NBA Championship over Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Erving is also very active on Instagram, and recently shared a post from the All-Star break with former President Barack Obama.
Erving wrote: “Always special to visit with former President Barack Obama @barackobama and former First Lady Michelle Obama @michelleobama . No one cares more about America than them. What a privilege and a blessing to have that honor bestowed upon me.”
As for the current 76ers, they are the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 31-26 record in 57 games.
They are coming off a season where they missed the 2025 NBA playoffs.
