NBA World Reacts To Philadelphia 76ers Making Roster Move Before Hawks Game

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Philadelphia 76ers have made a roster move.

On Thursday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will resume action after the All-Star break when they host the Atlanta Hawks at the Wells Fargo Center.

Jabari Walker is in the middle of his first season playing for Philadelphia.

He is currently averaging 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 40.3% from the field and 27.0% from three-point range in 45 games.

NBA World Reacts To Philadelphia 76ers Extending Jabari Walker

This week, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the 76ers are extending Walker on a new deal.

Via Charania: “The Philadelphia 76ers intend to sign forward Jabari Walker to a new two-year contract, sources tell ESPN. 76ers and Klutch Sports’ Rich Paul and Anthony Fields negotiated the new deal for Walker, who earned a rotation role after maxing out the games allowed on his two-way deal.”

Here’s what people were saying about the news:

@Harrison_Grimm: “Looks like Jabari Walker is happy to be staying with the Sixers. This was taken/posted at 1 AM.”

Michael Scotto: “Update: 76ers will sign Jabari Walker to a 2-year, $3.35 million deal, which includes $1 million guaranteed, sources say. Walker earned a rotation role with Philadelphia and ran out of eligible games on his two-way deal before the All-Star Break. ESPN first reported an agreement.”

Charania added: “The 76ers are planning to sign Walker to the new two-year deal and veteran guard Cam Payne for the rest of the season in the coming days. Payne spent part of the 2023-24 season with the 76ers.”

Paul Hudrick: “Jabari Walker has been available every night, played hard and never complained about his role. Well-deserved reward.”

@sleeper76ers: “The Sixers are signing Jabari Walker to a new two-year deal, per @ShamsCharania Well-earned 👏👏”

Walker was the 57th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Colorado.

He has also spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers over part of four NBA seasons.

His career averages are 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 45.6% from the field and 30.9% from three-point range in 233 games.

The 76ers are currently the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 30-24 record in 54 games.

They are in the middle of a two-game losing streak (but have won six out of their last ten).

Last season, the 76ers missed the 2025 NBA playoffs.

With the Trail Blazers, Walker had a game where scored 22 points (while shooting 6/6 from three-point range).

At 23, he is a solid player for the 76ers to keep on their roster.
