Many people reacted to the news on social media:
Michelle Beadle: “You take this back now, Shams.”
Kevin O’Connor: “This sucks so much”
@SleeperRockets: “get well soon Wemby”
@kings_muse: “Damn no DPOY again”
Marc Stein: “The Spurs’ announcement that Victor Wembanyama has been sidelined is at least the fourth calf injury that has been updated leaguewide just since yesterday along with Anthony Davis, Ja Morant and Jrue Holiday.”
@BolWrld: “We need to have a conversation about wemby being injury prone”
Damichael Cole: “No Victor Wembanyama or Ja Morant tomorrow in the Grizzlies-Spurs nationally televised game”
Josh Paredes: “Victor Wembanyama’s Injury Timeline • An injury analyst says calf strain recovery in the NBA is roughly 2-3 weeks. • Spurs will re-evaluate in about 2 weeks. • My estimate is 12 games missed minimum. • Missing 17 more games would mean no major awards like All-NBA, DPOY.”
Michael C. Wright: “Saw Victor Wembanyama in the locker room last night and he had a small sleeve on that injured calf. Didn’t look like he was in any discomfort and was in good spirits. But as y’all know, the Spurs will always err on the side of caution – especially with a calf strain.”
