Luka Dončić continued building his MVP case during Tuesday’s emphatic 127-113 home victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
With his game-high 42-point outburst, the six-time All-Star overtook Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant for the highest point total in March in franchise history, earning widespread acclaim.

Dončić entered Tuesday with 558 points in March, with one last chance remaining to surpass Bryant’s 578-point franchise record, set back in March 2006. The 27-year-old did so with ease, passing Bryant in the third quarter en route to his third straight game with 40-plus points.
Dončić once again put his tough shot-making ability on display while facilitating for his teammates as LA led by as many as 27 points against one of the Eastern Conference’s top-four seeds.
The Slovenian megastar put an exclamation point on his big night late, throwing down a two-handed fast-break dunk for his 41st and 42nd points. The rare slam gave Dončić exactly 600 points to end March, putting him in elite company.

On top of setting a Lakers milestone, Dončić joined Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan as one of two players to reach 600 points in March. Jordan scored 676 points back in March 1987.
Upon achieving the rare feat, Dončić had the NBA world singing his praises on X.

With a late third-quarter free throw, Dončić also became the third-youngest player to reach the 15,000 career point milestone at 27 years, 31 days old, trailing only LeBron James (25 years, 79 days) and Kevin Durant (26 years, 78 days).

Dončić ends March with a staggering 37.5-point nightly scoring average across 16 contests. Meanwhile, LA (50-26) finished the month 15-2, including Monday’s 120-101 blowout home win over the Washington Wizards with Dončić serving a one-game suspension.
The Lakers have now achieved consecutive 50-win seasons for the first time since they did so in four straight campaigns from 2007-08 to 2010-11.
Dončić and Co. will look to capture their fifth straight victory during Thursday’s road clash against the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder (60-16), marking a potential Western Conference finals preview.
