NBA World Reacts to Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves ‘Clowning’ Russell Westbrook During Lakers’ Blowout Win Over Kings

Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves' comical response to Russell Westbrook's free-throw line antics sparks entertaining reactions.

Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers had their way with Russell Westbrook’s Sacramento Kings on Sunday, cruising to a 128-104 blowout home victory.

However, the contest still got testy early, with Westbrook attempting to call out Dončić at the free-throw line, to the amusement of the Lakers superstar and his co-star, Austin Reaves.

Since entering the season with playoff aspirations, the Kings have found themselves in a downward spiral, plagued by questionable roster construction and season-ending injuries to their top players, Domantas Sabonis (knee) and Zach LaVine (hand).

Still, Westbrook has continued to give it his all for the floundering squad, even when games are already out of hand. Such was the case on Sunday, as the 2017 MVP had some choice words for Dončić with the latter at the charity stripe up 54-36.

Westbrook first shouted “Ball don’t lie” at the six-time All-Star after he missed the first of two free throws before continuing to gripe. Dončić proceeded to laugh off Westbrook’s frustrations, with the 18-year veteran getting hit with a technical foul.

Dončić and Reaves seemingly enjoyed the officiating decision, as the standout duo kept laughing as Westbrook voiced his discontent, prompting entertaining reactions from the NBA world on X.

“Luka and Austin Reaves were clowning Russell Westbrook for yelling ‘ball don’t lie’ while being down 19,” LA fan page Lakers All Day Everyday pointed out.

“Luka Dončić starts ragebaiting Russell Westbrook and Russ fell for it so badly he got a technical,” SM Highlights observed.

“Nobody takes Russell Westbrook seriously anymore,” Fliff Sportsbook asserted.

“Has a great athlete fallen off to this degree before in terms of respect in the game?? Maybe Russell Wilson?” content creator KenHeLive questioned. “This guy was the NBA MVP less than a decade ago and tonight an ex-teammate and one of the faces of the league are laughing at him. DRose never became a laughingstock.”

Additionally, veteran analyst Skip Bayless later took aim at the former Laker’s overall performance in the forgettable outing.

“At home tonight, the Los Angeles Lakers are doing exactly what they should be doing against the NBA’s worst team featuring Russell Westbrick (predictably 1-7 from 3). That crowd has seen THAT before,” Bayless opined.

Westbrook ultimately finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, but shot just 6-for-16 (37.5%), including 1-for-7 from 3-point range (14.3%), as the league-worst Kings (14-48) trailed by as many as 30 points.

Conversely, Dončić tallied a game-high 28 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 4 triples, shooting an efficient 10-for-16 (62.5%) in just three quarters before enjoying some hard-earned rest.
