NBA Announces Historic Victor Wembanyama Feat After Spurs’ 3rd Straight Win

According to the NBA, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama made history during their win against the Chicago Bulls.

Victor Wembanyama is having a brilliant season. The San Antonio Spurs star is recording one stellar game after another, most recently leading the team to a 121-117 victory against the Chicago Bulls.

But Wembanyama didn’t just have a great game. Scoring nearly 40 points and stunning fans with an impressive fourth quarter, Wembanyama also made history during the team’s outing.

Spurs Icon Victor Wembanyama Makes History vs. the Chicago Bulls

While the NBA celebrated Wembanyama’s performance, they made sure to highlight an iconic stat line. Not only has he won another game for San Antonio fans, but he has also proven himself to be a sure-shot future NBA Hall of Famer.

Recapping final scores from games on Monday, the NBA wrote on Twitter (now X): “Wemby becomes the 1st player in NBA history to record 35+ PTS, 10+ REB, 5+ AST, 5+ BLK and 5+ 3PM in a game as the [Spurs] win their third straight!”

Wembanyama scored 38 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks while shooting 57.9% from the field and 66.7% from the three-point line. Eighteen of these were scored during the final quarter, including back-to-back 3-pointers in the final few seconds.

According to the league, no other player, apart from Wembanyama, has scored these numbers. Of course, the victory was sweetened with the Spurs recording their third straight win.

Furthermore, this wasn’t the only feat the 21-year-old achieved on Monday at the United Centre. As per reports, Wembanyama — during the first quarter — recorded his 95th straight game with a block. He also passed former NBA star Mark Eaton as the third-longest streak in history.

But with the way Wembanyama is playing, it won’t be a surprise if the young Spurs star extends the streak.

Wembanyama is also averaging career-high points this season by scoring 25.7 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.9 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.6% from the field and 32.6% from the three-point range. If that wasn’t enough, Wembanyama is also leading the league in blocks.

Spurs HC Mitch Johnson Has High Praise For Wembanyama’s Game

After the game, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson was quick to praise his star player’s performance. Not every NBA player can produce back-to-back wins by scoring at a high level, making Wembanyama’s consistency all the more special.

“He walked that game down possession by possession there,” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said postgame. “He was just very fundamentally sound, very focused and he kind of just dominated a lot of possessions.”

The Spurs will look to secure a fourth straight win during their next game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
