Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas is drawing trade interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks ahead of the trade deadline. Thomas is out for tomorrow’s game against the Orlando Magic due to “personal reasons.” revealed NBA insider Michael Scotto.
Thomas will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Brooklyn Nets guard is currently playing on a $5.9 million qualifying offer this season. Averaging 15.6 PPG, the Nets Guard has struggled with injury issues, playing in 24 of the team’s 49 games.
Earlier this week, Scotto reported that the Bucks were looking to trade for players with upside or to acquire draft capital from teams trying to shed salary. During this report, Thomas was mentioned as a potential option.
“With that in mind, Cam Thomas and D’Angelo Russell are both on Milwaukee’s radar contingent on other deals the Bucks are working on before the trade deadline, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto shared in his report.
Meanwhile, after trading for Harden, the Cavaliers may not be finished yet ahead of the NBA trade deadline, according to reports. Following a report from NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Cavs are trying to offload Lonzo Ball’s $10 million salary.
Harden has a $42.9-million player option for the 2026-27 season, but only $13 million of that is guaranteed before July 11. This means that the Cavs could potentially look to restructure a new deal with Harden to take them under both tax aprons.
Harden is currently averaging 25.4 points, 8.1 assists, and 4.8 rebounds this season. With the Cavs’ current financial situation and the potential offloading of Ball, they could easily afford to fit Thomas into their roster.
Meanwhile, the Bucks will most likely have most of their attention focused on the situation with their two-time MVP. Despite that, there may still be movement on the Nets’ front to move Cam Thomas before the NBA trade deadline tomorrow.
