Angel Reeseās name surfaced in NBA circles after a viral comment during the Orlando Magicās game against the New York Knicks mocked Wendell Carter Jr.
Reese is a well-known young WNBA star with the Chicago Sky, has no direct ties to the NBA. However, her relationship with Carter Jr. has drawn public attention and, in this instance, became the subject of a disparaging remark.
NBA Legend Delivers Sharp Remark About Wendell Carter Jr. and His Relationship With Angel Reese
Walt āClydeā Frazier, a legendary figure in basketball history best known for his tenure with the New York Knicks, has remained active in the league decades after his retirement. He currently serves as a color commentator for the Knicks.
During a game between the Orlando Magic and the Knicks, Frazier, working alongside Mike Breen, referenced Carter Jr.’s relationship with Angel Reese. He then suggested Carter Jr. had few notable accomplishments beyond his personal life.
“Wendell Carter is getting kudos these days, Mike. He’s dating Angel Reese,” Frazier said.
Breen responded: “Keeping up on the romance in the NBA and WNBA?”
Frazier then said, “Well, when you Google his name, that’s all they have.”

Earlier this month, Carter Jr. confirmed being in a relationship with Reese, saying on Run It Back: “Thatās the homie for sure. Weāre locked in. Thatās the homie. Yāall going to find out when yāall need to find out. Weāll just leave it at that. Thatās my girl, though. We locked in for sure.”
Carter Jr. began his career with the Bulls before being traded to the Magic in the deal that sent Nikola Vucevic to Chicago. He is a 6’10” center who has averaged 11.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists throughout his eight-year career.
While those numbers are respectable, Reeseās rising popularity and growing fan base have placed Carter Jr. in the spotlight. His attention often stems more from his off-court relationship than his on-court performance.
Frazierās remarks did not affect the Magic, who held off Jalen Brunson and the Knicks for a 133-121 win, strengthening their position in the Eastern Conference. In that game, Carter Jr. had 11 points and four rebounds in nearly 22 minutes, while Franz Wagner, Desmond Bane, and Jalen Suggs exploded for 37, 27, and 26 points, respectively.
As it stands, Carter Jr. has an opportunity to gain recognition for more than his relationship with Reese. A deep postseason run with the Magic could shift the narrative, giving him attention for his play rather than his personal life.
