Carlos Boozer Speaks Proudly of Son, Memphis Grizzlies Draft Pick Cameron Boozer

Once Salters spoke with Cameron, his brother Carmani, and Cameron’s mother, Carlos got his chance to share his thoughts on his son’s success not only at Duke but also his future success with the Grizzlies.

“‘I don’t even know how to describe it honestly, man. … It’s my moment, but it’s our moment as a family.’ Cameron Boozer reacts to being drafted No. 3 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies,” ESPN posted on X.

“First, just so proud of him, man,” Carlos said. “Like dedication, you heard Carmani talk about it. It’s sacrifice. He shows up every day. I’m just happy for him, man. Take each moment, enjoy each moment. Obviously, being where your feet are. This is something you’ve been waiting for your entire life. Go enjoy it, man, go enjoy it.”

“Cameron Boozer absolutely dominated throughout his freshman year at Duke, joining Cooper Flagg, Zion Williamson, Anthony Davis, and Kevin Durant as the fifth freshman to sweep the major Player of the Year awards,” the PFSN scouting report highlighted.

“At 6-foot-9 with broad shoulders, excellent feel, and an advanced skill set, he combines old-school power with a modern forward’s versatility,” the report continued. “The son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, Cameron scores efficiently from anywhere, whether facing up, backing down, or stretching the floor with his improving 3-point range.

“His poise and consistency stand out, giving him the look of a player ready to contribute immediately at the next level. Boozer thrives on fundamentals rather than flash, relying on touch, body control, and basketball IQ… He’s comfortable facilitating from the post or attacking closeouts, reads defenses like a veteran, and controls the glass with positioning and strength,” the report continued.

During his time with the Blue Devils, Boozer averaged 22.5 points, 4.1 assists, and 10.2 rebounds while shooting 55.6% from the field.

“While not super bouncy, his mobility and anticipation make him a sturdy defender across multiple spots.”
