Speculations are rife that the Los Angeles Clippers will face stringent action if found guilty of violating the NBA’s salary cap rules. Earlier, journalist Pablo Torre’s bombshell allegations of the team circumventing the league’s salary cap involving superstar Kawhi Leonard made headlines.
His allegations prompted the NBA to open an investigation involving Leonard, the Clippers, and Aspiration, a now-defunct organization owned by Clippers owner Steve Ballmer. The outcome of the investigation is expected to take time. However, there have already been discussions about what the Clippers’ punishment would be, if there is any.

NBA Insider Reveals League’s Opinion on Clippers’ Punishment
Speaking on ESPN’s NBA Today, league insider Bobby Marks revealed the rest of the team’s thoughts on how the NBA would penalize the Clippers if found guilty. “This is just from talking to teams, the teams I’ve talked to, they’re not expecting a penalty here, a significant penalty of anything,” he said.
Marks continued, “Just because they realize how significant salary cap circumvention is. Anything, do we maybe see a rule in place where the league takes up, a more of an understanding as far as betting on what contracts players signed with sponsorship agreements that are related to teams?”
“I know in the CBA could be circumstantial evidence here, but I think the league would go down a slippery slope if we’re going that way, because I think you can find a lot of teams that have maybe violated the salary cap based on circumstantial evidence with it with regards to the Clippers here,” he further added.
Teams are not expecting the LA Clippers to receive a significant punishment, per @BobbyMarks42:

The NBA’s investigation has officially been confirmed by commissioner Adam Silver. With the season set to start in October, there is no official timeline on when the league will report its findings. There’s every possibility of a significant delay as the investigation will look to cover all bases before issuing a statement.
On their part, the Clippers and Leonard will also have to focus on preparing for the new season after a disappointing first-round exit this past season. With the two-time NBA champion limited to just 37 games in the 2024-2025 season, Los Angeles lacked the firepower on both ends of the floor.
Kawhi has led the Clippers to just one Western Conference Final in his six seasons with the franchise. With seasoned names such as James Harden, Bradley Beal, and Brook Lopez in the mix, the Clippers hope to go the distance, while Leonard hopes to stay healthy after a few injury-riddled seasons.
