NBA Insider Thinks 2025 Playoffs Might Determine Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Future in Milwaukee

It’s not time to hit the crisis button in Milwaukee, Wis., but the next two games could shape their destiny. Since they bagged their second NBA title in 2021, things have gone south for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. The team’s spine slowly gets to a point where they are into the 30s, with Brook Lopez (37), Damian Lillard (34), and even the Greek Freak hitting 30. They need fresh legs to amp up the process.

Consequently, an NBA insider, Chris Haynes, summarized the roster’s current situation and hopes for a franchise makeover if they don’t go deep in this year’s playoffs.

Appearing on The Dan Patrick Show, the insider presented the changes the team could be in for if the base crumbles.

NBA Insider Details Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Potential Bucks Future

The Milwaukee Bucks lost the first two playoff games to the Indiana Pacers, but they get a home advantage for the next two. If you scrutinize Game 1 and Game 2, Giannis’ performances remain positive. Yet, his teammates couldn’t put up top performances, apart from Bobby Portis, who came up with 28 points in Game 2.

As a result, Haynes appeared unsure and stated, “I don’t think so. I don’t think so. You know, this is gonna be a pivotal playoff, this 2025 playoffs for the Milwaukee Bucks. It’s gonna be pivotal. If they don’t get to the finals, win the finals, or even make a deep run, you can probably see some wholesale changes going on in Milwaukee.”

If you remember, former Bucks title-winning coach Mike Budenholzer lost his job after the team lost to the Miami Heat during the 2023 playoffs, courtesy of a Jimmy Butler III special. The franchise never steps back in making eye-opening decisions.

Haynes predicted various changes by mentioning, “You know, you can go from coaching staff to front office, to the players. It can be a pretty big, significant wholesale changes if the Milwaukee Bucks don’t make a significant run this postseason.”

In addition, losing Antetokounmpo could derail the franchise’s optimistic future.

The Bucks Could Lose the Greek Freak

In the show, Patrick asked: “Do you see them trading Giannis?”

Haynes replied, “I could see them going in a different direction. Yeah, I can see that possibility if things go south this postseason for sure.”

Above all, the player has two more years left on his contract with a player option in the third year. He signed a three-year, $186 million contract extension in 2023, bringing hope and optimism to the loyal Bucks faithful. But now, some experts suggest a complete team overhaul.

Moreover, the Lillard experiment failed to impress the masses. The guard was cleared of deep vein thrombosis and returned for Game 2 to score 14 points. Yet Antetokounmpo could use more help to win the series, which is heading to the Fiserv Forum for the next two games.

Otherwise, the Bucks might go into rebuilding mode as Antetokounmpo will pack his bags and get ready to leave.
