NBA HOF Coach George Karl Finally Reveals the Truth Behind Viral X Posts – ’It’s Out There’

Former Seattle Supersonics and Denver Nuggets coach Geroge Karl discloses fascinating point about his popular X account.

George Karl has always been honest and direct and has never shied away from voicing his opinion. Over an illustrious 38-year coaching career that saw him win 1255 games, he was an animated character on the sidelines. He was regularly seen going at it with officials, coaches, and even his players.

In a recent piece by Jason Quick of “The Athletic,” Karl opened up on a range of topics, including his health, his Hall of Fame induction, the championships he had lost over the years, and even some of his famous clashes with NBA players.

The legendary head coach also revealed one interesting point about his popular X account.

Karl Admits He Has Never Written Any Posts on X

Many of the posts on George Karl’s X account are unfiltered, candid, and straightforward, which is exactly what makes them so popular. The account has already racked up over 125,000 followers and continues to grow, with basketball fans around the globe drawn to the coach’s fascinating insights.

However, Karl disclosed one key point to Quick about the account: He is not the one typing the posts.

“I’ve gone on Twitter to find out what somebody said, but I’ve never, ever wrote anything. I’ve never done that my whole life, but I know it’s out there,” said Karl.

Karl was encouraged by his business partner, Brett Goldberg, to set up the account in order to have more of a voice on social media. The former Seattle Supersonics and Denver Nuggets coach admits that Goldberg is predominantly responsible for the content.

“It’s like 80 percent Brett. He wanted me to have more of an online presence … and I don’t understand branding,” said Karl.

Karl, however, is not totally out of the loop. He admits that he does occasionally see what people are saying on X.

Basketball fans who have not had a chance to check out the “@CoachKarl22” X handle, may want to go check it out. The combative and sometimes controversial posts have called out former players and even current NBA analysts.

Last year, the account reposted a comment from well-known sports analyst Nick Wright regarding Sonics guard Gary Payton and added the following response:

“Call me sometime and I can teach u Hoops 101 for free. Ok?”

In February last year, the account posted a short clip of former Nuggets All-Star Carmelo Anthony discussing his relationship with Karl, and added the below caption:

“And u were overrated and u wish your game was as efficient as Detlef’s,”

Karl also said that he considered closing the account at one point, but has decided to keep it going for now.
