Golden State Warriors fans are speechless after a recent injury update on Stephen Curry. After eliminating the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs, Curry sustained a hamstring injury in Game 1 of the Warriors’ second-round series against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Given that Curry has not sustained a serious hamstring or muscle strain so far in his basketball career, there is no real way to know when he will be able to return to his team. While some fans might have hoped for the Warriors star to suit up for Game 3, that will not happen.
Stephen Curry Is Not Expected To Return to the Warriors Until Game 6
As things stand, the Timberwolves-Warriors series is tied at 1-1. Since Curry is dealing with a non-contact hamstring injury, many hoped he would rejoin the team as the series shifts to San Francisco for Games 3 and 4.
NBA insider Shams Charania recently spoke out on Curry’s injury and painted a grim picture. Not only is the Warriors star expected to miss Game 3, but Charania revealed that the recovery timeline established might keep Curry sidelined until Game 6.
“Hamstring strains, that’s not really an injury you play with. He’s really been limited to just doing treatment, and he’s going to be reevaluated on Wednesday, [May 16], which means he’s definitely out — Game 2, he missed, Game 3, Game 4. So he’s going to miss at least three games. My understanding is it’s probably not going to be at any point until Game 6 at the earliest for Stephen Curry,” Charania said.

If the Timberwolves keep up the momentum they found in Game 2, this series might be over before Curry can make a return. As a result, fans took to social media and declared that the series is already over, “It’s over without Steph.”

“Sheesh. Gotta consider shutting it down. [Klay Thompson’s] hamstring injury is speculated to play a role in his ACL tear that season. It’s a huge risk playing him with that injury, an actual detrimental one could come if he rushes back. Even then, he comes back at maybe 75%?” said another fan.
“You don’t come back early from hamstrings. No actual sports fan thinks he’s coming back before game 6,” said one more user on X.

It is undoubtedly bad news that Curry is still in the treatment stage of his rehabilitation. He still needs to be cleared to return for team practices, and then he will participate in scrimmages and team drills to see if he is ready to return.
Although the Warriors have a significant window to rest between Game 5 and Game 6, there is no way to know if Curry will have healed enough to rejoin his team. While the majority of Warriors fans already believe that the series is over, some still hold onto hope that Jimmy Butler III and the rest of the squad can hold down the fort and keep the series alive until Curry is finally able to return.
