‘Worst Officiating’ — Stephen Curry’s Fans Blast NBA Officials After Warriors Star’s Worrisome Pelvis Injury

The Golden State Warriors are dealing with quite the scare following Stephen Curry’s recent injury. However, the injury itself overshadowed something else.

When Curry hurt himself, nothing was called on the play, and the action simply resumed. Warriors fans were none too pleased with the NBA’s officiating when the referees did not call anything.

Stephen Curry’s Fans Call Out NBA Officials

Following the Warriors game, one fan sent a message to the NBA’s officiating following Curry’s injury via his X account.

“@NBAOfficial you guys are so bad at your job that you are actively getting Steph Curry hurt. You should all be fined and fired for such a miserable display of officiating,” he wrote.

Another fan responded, writing, “Worst officiating in any professional sports. Baseball umps are pretty bad, but NBA refs take the cake!”

Another fan responded by comparing Curry’s situation to professional soccer legend Lionel Messi: “If it was Messi those refs would never be allowed to walk out of that arena. Thats the kind of deterrence they need to believe is possible.”

It’s fair to suggest that many are not happy that nothing was called on the play where Curry got hurt.

Warriors fans have the right to be upset with Curry’s injury — not just because of how good Curry is but also because he got hurt not too long before the playoffs. The timing is not ideal for Golden State, and it could severely hurt its chances of getting the highest seed possible.

With a record of 41-29, the Warriors are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference. And with 12 games remaining on their schedule, they were fighting an uphill battle to claim home-court advantage in the playoffs (2.5 games behind the No. 4-seeded Denver Nuggets).

However, calling out the referees in this instance is a little excessive. Curry ran into a double team and understandably passed out of it. Once he did, neither defender made illegal contact. This all came down to bad luck for Curry and the Warriors. Everyone wishes it wouldn’t have happened, but this stroke of bad luck doesn’t reflect much on the officiating.

Furthermore, the play did not directly change the outcome of the game. The Warriors still won. Curry’s injury could have ramifications from here on out, but his absence didn’t prohibit a win over the Toronto Raptors.

There are times when calling out officiating is justified, like when they miss an egregious call. Bad calls happen all the time in the NBA, and they are really unfortunate. It’s just as unfortunate as Curry’s pelvic contusion, but this isn’t the time to call them out.
