Once upon a time, Jaden Ivey was considered to be a solid player during his time with the Detroit Pistons. He was an explosive talent with the potential to become a league star one day.
However, due to a plethora of injuries, his explosiveness declined, and so did his numbers. As a result, the Pistons decided to trade him in February to the Chicago Bulls. While Ivey did play a few games for the Bulls, it seems that his new team wasn’t fond of him and waived him on Monday.
The Bulls have several reasons for cutting ties with Ivey. While their reasons may be valid, a sports broadcaster was wondering why kicking him off the team was necessary.
Sports Broadcaster Sage Steele Can’t Fathom Bulls Waiving Jaden Ivey
According to several reports, the Bulls decided to part ways with Ivey on Monday due to “conduct detrimental to the team.” Reports suggest his layoff was due to his social media behavior.
Ivey reportedly went on Instagram Live several times and displayed questionable behavior. He criticized the league for supporting the LGBTQ+ community, he made questionable comments on religion, which is considered a sensitive topic nowadays, and he was caught beefing with celebrities.
The Bulls clearly don’t want a player with personal issues representing their team, which is why Ivey was waived on Monday.
Sports broadcaster Sage Steele recently went on X to rant about the Bulls letting Ivey go. Steele couldn’t fathom how heartless the league could be. She believes the Bulls and the league could’ve helped him rather than cutting ties with him.
“IF it’s true that Jaden Ivey has mental health issues, wouldn’t it be best for @chicagobulls & the league to HELP him vs cut him? Offer him resources? Just like the @nba did for Ben Simmons, DeMar DeRozan, Kevin Love & so many others. WHY ARE THE RULES DIFFERENT FOR JADEN? 🤔,” Steele wrote on X.

With only a few games remaining in the regular season, it’s unlikely that we will see Ivey suit up for another team this year. He’ll have to try his luck this summer during free agency and hopefully secure himself a team for the 2026-27 season.
