NBA analyst Dan Patrick did not hold back in issuing a stern message to Draymond Green after the Golden State Warriors star claimed there was an agenda against him and that he had been singled out around the league.
This came from another unnecessary flagrant on Naz Reid, where his elbow struck Reid’s face. Green’s inflamed response to the officials required Steve Kerr to bench him and Stephen Curry to calm him down. Green is now just two technicals away from a suspension.
As confusing as it may be for Green to suggest there’s a league-wide agenda against him, especially given his history, let’s break down this latest controversy and how media members are reacting.
‘You Do Stupid Things’ Dan Patrick Sends Stern Message to Draymond Green
“Draymond is really good at playing the victim after he creates and initiates something,” Patrick points out in the segment.
"They single you out because you do stupid things. When you play basketball that's when you're great… You're not the victim here. You do stupid things."

Patrick’s segment came from Green’s quote below: “The agenda to make me look like an angry Black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous,” Green told reporters after the game.
In fairness to him, perhaps much of the frustration stemmed from being on the end of a racial slur by a fan in the stands who promptly got removed by authorities.
To that end, Michael Wilbon told Get Up that he liked his response: “I like Draymond’s resentment of the characterization.”
Some of Green’s frustrations are understandable, especially concerning the fan interaction. It’s unfair to solely focus on his on-court ‘hardman’ persona when he’s such an accomplished player and one of the finest defenders and playmaking bigs the league has seen. Without question, the Warriors couldn’t have won all those Championships without his contributions.
However, the idea that the NBA has some agenda against Green is what Patrick and most others take issue with:
“You can Google Draymond Green, you will find 10 minutes of stupid plays…cheap shots that you’ve taken on people,” reiterates Patrick.
He has an excellent point here. Green can’t take cheap shots at people’s eyes, put them in a choke hold, or kick them on the court, and then claim to be a victim of an agenda. An element of ownership and self-reflection is required here.
Warriors Coach Kerr told reporters, “he’s going to have to stay composed, we need him.” Patrick then retorted, “This is Groundhog Day.”
To his point, we’re only a year removed from Green’s 12-game NBA ban for striking Jusuf Nurkić, after similar incidents of having Rudy Gobert in a headlock, and stamping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis the year prior. History tends to repeat itself with the controversial Warriors forward.
It’s also tough to claim there’s an agenda against him when he was a part of the 2025 NBA All-Star weekend TNT panel, has his podcast, and will have a media career after his playing career is over.
Green is a tremendous player; he needs to focus on that and leave all the controversy and on-court cheap shots behind him. Patrick is on the money in that regard.
