‘Most Athletic Dude in the League’ — Warriors Superstar Stephen Curry Reveals NBA’s Best Athlete

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry revealed his pick for the most athletic player in the NBA, and it isn't the first time he's shown this player love.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is gearing up to enter his 17th NBA season.

The 37-year-old sharpshooter has earned just about every accolade imaginable, as he’s a four-time NBA champion, Finals MVP, two-time league MVP, 11-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection (including four First Team nods), two-time All-Star Game MVP, two-time scoring champion, and two-time 3-Point Contest champion.

In other words, Curry has been around the block, so when he makes a statement about another player in the league, people listen.

Stephen Curry Calls Memphis Grizzlies Guard Ja Morant  the ‘Most Athletic Dude in the League’

Curry was recently asked to share his pick for the most athletic player in the league, and He had one answer.

“Ja Morant,” Curry said. “I think pound for pound, he’s the most athletic player in the league. Russell Westbrook when he was in his full prime. John Wall. We always talk about those guys as being the most athletic in the league.”

While he also shouted out Westbrook and Wall as top-tier athletes who are past their prime, he highlighted Morant as the best athlete actively.

Wall and Westbrook were both once great candidates for this accolade, but injuries and age have caught up with each of them. Westbrook is currently a free agent looking for a new home, while Wall hasn’t played in the league since the 2022-23 season.

As Curry mentioned, Morant’s athleticism at his size is extremely impressive. Morant has earned a few accolades of his own, as he’s a two-time All-Star, Most Improved Player, and Rookie of the Year. He also has one of the most aesthetically pleasing play styles in the NBA, making him a fan favorite.

Curry, Morant Have Shared Praise For Each Other Before

Curry and Morant clearly have plenty of mutual respect. When asked to name the toughest NBA player to defend a few years ago, Morant had a one word answer: “Steph.”

The two players have a bit in common, too, as both are undersized players who beat the odds to become NBA superstars. They are both small-school players who flew under the radar at a young age before shining at Davidson (Curry) and Murray State (Morant) to turn their NBA dreams into reality.

It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time Curry has praised Morant and his style of play. Curry’s Warriors and Morant’s Grizzlies battled in the second round of the 2022 NBA playoffs, with the Warriors defeating the Grizzlies in six games to win the series. If Morant didn’t already have Curry’s respect, he certainly earned it during that series.

“There’s definitely an excitement factor just watching him play, the things he can do on the floor and you know, the mannerisms and stuff he expresses on the court — I love it all because it shows again how much the game means to you, how competitive you are and the appreciation for those moments out there on the floor because you know all the work that goes into it,” Curry said of Morant at the time.

The hope for the 2025-26 NBA season is that both players are healthy and ready to compete, so we can see a few more epic battles before Curry ultimately decides to retire.
