The Dallas Mavericks have their future mapped out with Cooper Flagg. While the team is struggling after trading away Luka Dončić in February, Flagg — their No. 1 draft pick — has been a silver lining.
In fact, the rookie has continued to impress fans during the 2025-26 season, giving them hope of a better future in Dallas. Of course, Cooper is making his presence known through his performance, surprising NBA fans with new records.
Dallas Mavericks Star Cooper Achieves Impressive Rookie Record
As mentioned, the Mavericks have had a rough start to their 2025-26 campaign. The team continues to lag with an 8-15 win-loss record, clearly missing Dončić’s presence on the court.
However, Flagg’s presence seems to have cushioned the blow.
Despite the rocky start, Flagg has continued to shine on his own. Fans have been highly supportive, especially after the Mavericks fired former general manager Nico Harrison.
Flagg’s recent achievement came after the team’s 118-108 win against the Miami Heat. As per reports, Flagg is the youngest NBA player to post three consecutive 20-point games. The Duke alum scored 22 points against the Heat.

Flagg scored 24 and 35 points against the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers, respectively.
That being said, it isn’t the only feat Flagg achieved.
On Sunday, Flagg kicked off a three-game winning streak with 35 points, becoming the youngest player ever to do so. Not only did Flagg confirm that he’s here to stay, but he also came through for an already injured Mavericks team.
He’s averaging 17.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game this season, while shooting 47.6% from the field, 25.6% from the three-point line, and 80% from the free-throw line.
Mavericks Head Coach Jason Kidd Was All Praises For Flagg’s Exceptional Performance
Following the Clippers game, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd spoke about how impressive Flagg is.
“He’s only 18 years old, but he seems like he’s been in this league before,” Mavs coach Jason Kidd explained. “He did it all tonight. He had the ball. You can call it point guard or whatever, but he ran the offense for us. He drove the ball. The ball touched the paint. He got to the rim, got to the free throw line, stepped up and made free throws for us late.”
Kidd further lauded Flagg’s composure, applauding him for playing at a ‘high level’.
The Mavericks will play the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, December 5.
