Mavericks Trade Rumors: Dallas Listening to Offers for Multiple Players, Including $50,000,000 NBA Champion

NBA insider Shams Charania reveals that the Dallas Mavericks are open to exploring the trade markets of several players.

The Dallas Mavericks are undoubtedly one of the most talked-about teams this year. The main reason for that would be the shocking Luka Dončić trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony Davis came to Dallas through that deal, but recent reports claim that he could be shown the way out later this summer as well.

After Nico Harrison’s abrupt firing, the former NBA champion has been heavily floated as a tradeable asset. That comes as a shock, considering it has not even been a year since he joined the team. The Mavericks have not even been able to explore what the team can do at its best, with Cooper Flagg, Davis, and Kyrie Irving.

Will Anthony Davis Leave the Mavericks?

The former Lakers star’s future in Dallas remains uncertain, and reports suggest that he may not be the only one. NBA insider Shams Charania has revealed that the Mavericks are open to exploring the markets of Davis, Daniel Gafford, D’Angelo Russell, and Klay Thompson.

Charania wrote, “The Mavericks are open to exploring the trade markets for Davis, center Daniel Gafford and guards Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell, sources said.”

The four-time NBA champion, currently under a $50 million contract that expires in 2028, has been unable to replicate his form with the Golden State Warriors. Both Russell and Thompson are in the same boat when it comes to their numbers. They average 11.2 and 11 points this season, which is apparently not good enough for the Mavericks.

It will be interesting to see how the future fares for Dallas, who certainly have a good team to contend for the Western Conference title. Although they had a rough start this year, the Mavericks have won four of the last five games. Flagg seems to be getting into his groove, and Davis also had a decent performance in the previous game against the Houston Rockets.

The Mavericks will be able to retool their roster and build their team if they can find suitable suitors for the four players. However, the fact that they want to cut ties with two players who have championship-winning experience may suggest that Dallas is looking to build for the future rather than go for a shot at the championship now.

Irving appears to be a significant part of their plans, unlike Davis, and that speaks volumes about their strategy. He is a lot less injury-prone than the big man, who has not made a lasting impact in Dallas yet. Whether he is on the way out with Thompson, Gafford, and Russell, only time will be the judge of that.
