Mavericks Minority Owner Mark Cuban Sends Strong 8-Word Message on Latest Anthony Davis Trade Rumors

Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban has made his stance clear on the trade rumors surrounding All-Star forward Anthony Davis.

The season is young, and already the Dallas Mavericks roster is being pelted with trade rumors. Even Anthony Davis, who was the prize they got back for trading Luka Dončić, isn’t safe from these trade talks.

Amid these swirling rumors, minority owner Mark Cuban has spoken up to make his stance clear regarding the All-Star big man.

Things have been shifting dramatically within the Mavericks organization following the termination of Nico Harrison. One of the many changes is the seeming reinstatement of Cuban’s influence in decision-making.

According to reports, Cuban is serving as one of the advisors to majority owner Patrick Dumont. While he doesn’t have the same control he once had, it at least means he can have a say in matters regarding roster changes.

In a report by The Athletic’s Joe Vardon, Cuban made it clear that he had no intention of trading Davis away.

“We won’t. We want to try to win,” Cuban said, clearing up his thoughts regarding Davis and the idea of trading him.

Davis played in the Mavs’ first five games of the season but has since been sidelined by a left calf strain. In the five games he played, he averaged 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks.

Before being injured, he led the team in points and rebounds per game. The honor of being the scoring leader now belongs to Cooper Flagg, who has put up 15.5 points in 15 games. Meanwhile, P.J. Washington has taken over as the team’s top rebounder with 7.5 boards per contest.

Davis’ fellow big men, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II, have also missed a significant amount of time. Gafford has played in only nine games, while Lively has suited up for three.

All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving has also yet to suit up this season as he continues to recover from an ACL injury he sustained in March. Irving is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery journey; however, a definitive timeline for his comeback has yet to be established.

As for Davis, a report from insider Shams Charania on Nov. 16 stated that he would be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days. If that re-evaluation yields positive results, he could return to action during the Mavs’ four-game road trip spanning Nov. 24 to Dec. 1.
