Anthony Davis Trade Rumors: Eastern Conference Team With $80 Million Space Named as Possible Suitor For Mavericks Star

Recent reports suggest that this NBA team is on the lookout to acquire Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks.

With the Dallas Mavericks currently in a state of confusion, Anthony Davis’ future with the organization and potential landing spot have become a matter of interest. After being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Mavericks with the hope that he would lead their team to a coveted championship, Davis has dealt with several injuries, forcing him to be sidelined for several stretches of games over the past nine months.

The Mavericks understandably suffered without Davis, as well as Kyrie Irving, available in their lineup. Since Davis was the player directly involved in a trade that greatly frustrated the Mavericks’ fan base, his exit appears evident with each passing day.

Why the Chicago Bulls Can Acquire Anthony Davis?

Out of all the teams across the league, there are few with the cap space and roster spot to give Davis a new home. The Chicago Bulls are one such team, having both a significant amount of money to spare, around $80 million, and the desire and potential to reach the next level.

While the Bulls are already experiencing a fair amount of success with the partnership of Josh Giddey and Nikola Vučević, senior NBA Insider Tim Bontemps recently reported that the Bulls should seriously consider adding Davis to their roster.

“The Bulls could go in a few directions over the next several months, including adding to the current roster. That has led some sources to speculate whether Chicago, with over $80 million in expiring money, could be a suitor for Dallas’ Anthony Davis and bring the Windy City native home. ‘I could see it,’ a West executive, who recently saw Chicago play, said. ‘[Josh] Giddey has worked well with Vucevic, but he could use a roll man to throw it up to.”

Although the Bulls have struggled to establish themselves as legitimate postseason contenders in recent NBA history, there is no denying that the team is making a concerted effort to change its situation this season. After 14 games, the Bulls hold a record of 8-6, a positive sign, especially considering their two-game winning streak.

Upon hearing this report, fans could not help but express their skepticism. Even if the Bulls were able to acquire Davis without having to break up their current roster and part with many assets, the Mavericks star’s disposition towards cold weather may affect his ability to play in Chicago, a city known for its chilly winters.

In any case, it is clear that trade rumors involving Davis are being generated rapidly, a sign that a potential trade is on the horizon. Only time will tell if the Bulls, or any other team, is willing to give Davis a chance to continue his career with a new squad.
