Magic Predicted to Cut Ties With $239,250,000 Star to Pull Off Blockbuster Trade For Giannis Antetokounmpo

Magic predicted to cut ties with a young star to land Giannis Antetokounmpo as a new report predicts Orlando's surprising move in the race.

The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors had gone a bit quiet lately. But they are back now. ESPN insider Ramona Shelburne recently said in an interview, “I will look at the team like Orlando. They are close,” and ever since that comment, rumors are swirling again.

Now a new prediction report has come out, and it has some interesting details about what Orlando might actually have to give up to make this happen.

Latest Prediction Report Regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo

The first question is why “Greek Freak” is suddenly being associated with the Orlando Magic. Actually, there are a few real connections here that make this more than just a rumor.

The first point is that the Magic recently signed Sean Sweeney, who was the associate head coach with the San Antonio Spurs, as their new head coach. Sweeney is still with the Spurs right now, finishing out the postseason on their bench. That includes Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, after which he will officially join Orlando.

Now, Sweeney is not a stranger to Antetokounmpo. He was an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks during the years when Antetokounmpo was still a young player.

On top of that, Orlando Magic general manager John Hammond and president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman both have a direct connection to the two-time MVP, too. These are the same people who originally drafted and scouted him.

So, between the coaching connection and the front-office connection, Orlando has more pull with Antetokounmpo than most teams do.

But this is not like a game of UNO, where Milwaukee is just going to part with one of its best players for the flip of a card. The Bucks will want someone in return who can come close to “Greek Freak,” or at least give them a player who can contribute consistently.

Right now, reports are suggesting that Orlando might be willing to send their $239,250,000 star, Paolo Banchero, to Milwaukee to get Antetokounmpo.

Banchero came to the Magic as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He signed a 5-year maximum contract extension with Orlando in July 2025 that is worth $239,250,000, according to Spotrac.

As per the prediction from Jake Weinbach, the Magic might package Banchero along with Jalen Suggs, Jase Richardson, and a 2032 first-round pick via Orlando.

The Magic do not have a lot of first-round picks available in upcoming drafts because of the blockbuster trade they made for Desmond Bane last year, so sending Banchero himself is a significant part of this offer.

For Milwaukee, getting a 23-year-old like Banchero is not a bad deal at all. He is young enough to be a long-term building block for whatever the Bucks want to become next.

In the 2025-26 season, Banchero played 72 games for Orlando, averaging 22.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 45.9% from the field. If he moves to Milwaukee in exchange for Antetokounmpo, he would help the Bucks offensively and also help them shift from an aging core to a younger one.

Now what will ultimately happen remains to be seen.
