Magic Johnson Sends Heartfelt Message To Dallas Mavericks Legend Mark Aguirre

Magic Johnson made a post to X for former Dallas Mavericks star Mark Aguirre.

Mark Aguirre was once among the best forwards in the NBA.

The two-time NBA Champion last played in the league during the 1994 NBA season when he was with the LA Clippers.

He is most known for his time with the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons.

Recently, Aguirre had his jersey retired by the Mavs.

Following the news, Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson made a post to X for Aguirre.

Johnson wrote: “I want to congratulate Mark Aguirre on his #24 jersey retirement with the Dallas Mavericks. I met Mark and Isiah Thomas 45 years ago after they were drafted to the NBA – we formed a friendship and started training in my hometown Lansing, MI and their hometown Chicago, IL that summer. Mark was a triple threat on the basketball court and virtually unstoppable. Look at how good God is, all three of us now have our jerseys retired by the teams we played for – myself with the Lakers, Isiah with the Pistons, and now Mark with the Mavericks!”

Aguirre was the first pick in the 1981 NBA Draft out of DePaul.

He played 13 seasons, winning two titles with the Pistons in 1989 and 1990.

The three-time NBA All-Star had career averages of 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest while shooting 48.4% from the field and 31.2% from three-point range in 923 games.

As for Johnson, he is one of the best point guards in NBA history.

The former Michigan State standout finished his career with five NBA Championships.

He had averages of 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 11.2 assists and 1.9 steals per contest while shooting 52.0% from the field and 30.3% from three-point range in 906 games.
