Three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner Mac McClung decided not to compete in this year’s event, but some fans who tuned into Saturday’s competition during NBA All-Star Saturday might have wished that he had participated.
McClung actually had four dunks ready to go, and those dunks were all caught on video.

Some NBA fans might wonder why McClung didn’t take part this year.
“I think there was just back and forth of us being like this, and then they were calling me, being like, ‘People didn’t want to do it if I was doing it,’ and I thought it’s best if I just sit out this year and let it be, no matter what,” McClung told HoopsHype.
However, McClung revealed the four dunks that he would’ve used had he competed in the event.

The first dunk has two people on a ladder, with McClung jumping over a person and finishing with his face down and his arm backwards. The second showcases his athleticism further, as he catches the ball midair, reaches his toes with it, then finishes with a reverse slam. For the third, he puts the ball between his legs before dunking it in reverse. The last features him catching the ball from under his legs for another reverse slam.
McClung posted on X, “Check em out!!” This confirms that he did have plans to compete, but that back-and-forth with the NBA clearly changed his mind.
This season, McClung is playing for the Chicago Bulls. Besides the Bulls, McClung has also played in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Lakers. McClung is currently averaging 5.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game, while shooting 36.0% from the floor.
On Saturday, Keshad Johnson of the Miami Heat defeated Carter Bryant of the San Antonio Spurs in the final round to capture this year’s NBA Slam Dunk Contest title at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.
McClung won his NBA Slam Dunk Contest titles in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Many fans, after seeing Saturday’s competition, were not too happy. There was plenty of disappointment after the Los Angeles Lakers’ Jaxson Hayes delivered what amounted to a basic dunk on his first attempt.
Despite not participating this year, McClung could still take part next season if he’s still in the NBA. After seeing McClung’s dunks on those videos, it’s clear he probably could have won a fourth straight title Saturday. NBA fans might be reaching out to McClung before next season, letting him know they want him to take part.
