Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Luka Dončić continued his offensive dominance during Sunday’s 133-121 home victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
With another 30-point showing, the five-time All-Star joined five Lakers icons, including his injured co-star LeBron James (foot), in achieving a remarkable scoring streak.
Luka Dončić Becomes 6th Laker With 6 Consecutive 30-Point Games
As has been a trend all season, Dončić came out of the gates firing, scoring 20 of his game-high 34 points in the first quarter. His early offensive onslaught allowed LA to build a 46-27 advantage after the opening period, setting the tone for a commanding team-wide performance.
New Orleans, which was without several key players, most notably star forward Zion Williamson (hamstring), never led, falling behind by as many as 26 points in the second quarter.
Dončić’s 34-point effort marked his sixth straight outing with at least 30 points, putting him in rarified air in his first full season with the Purple and Gold. The 26-year-old became just the sixth player in Lakers history to accomplish the feat, joining James and franchise legends Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Jerry West, and Elgin Baylor.

The Slovenian megastar has now scored 30-plus points in 11 of 15 contests this season, averaging a league-leading and career-high 35.1 points per game.
Dončić chipped in 12 rebounds, seven assists, and four 3-pointers against the Pelicans, stuffing the stat sheet as his squad cruised to its seventh straight win. He and his co-star Austin Reaves had their way with their shorthanded Western Conference foe, with the duo combining for 67 points, their third straight contest each crossing the 30-point threshold.

“I don’t know what made it special, but I think we’re just good basketball players,” Dončić said postgame when asked what makes him and Reaves “such a dynamic backcourt.”
Lakers center Deandre Ayton also had himself a big night in the interior, recording a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double despite exiting early due to right knee soreness.
“Like I always say, he’s a big thing for us, big help in us winning the games,” Dončić praised Ayton. “So, we appreciate him. Keep going. He’s playing amazing.”
LA (15-4) will aim to extend its winning streak to eight games on Monday when it hosts the upstart Phoenix Suns (12-9) on the second leg of a back-to-back. Meanwhile, Dončić will look to stretch his 30-point streak to seven outings and further strengthen his early-season MVP case.
