Dončić vs. Timberwolves: How Did Dončić Performed in Game 2?

Dončić came out blazing in Game 2, putting on an absolute show in the first quarter—scoring 16 points, which was more than the entire Timberwolves team’s total of 15. He didn’t slow down in the first half either, finishing with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists, controlling the game with his signature mix of finesse and fire.

Though his shooting dipped in the second half, Dončić still finished with a massive stat line: 31 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists in 42 minutes. He shot 45% from the field and hit 2 of 8 from deep, doing just enough to keep the Lakers ahead down the stretch.

Thanks to his all-around brilliance, the Lakers secured a 94-85 win, tying the series at 1-1 and bouncing back strong after the Game 1 loss.

Dončić Joins Lakers Legends With Elite Performance in Game 2

Besides torching the Timberwolves on the court, Dončić also etched his name in the history books with his stellar performance in Game 2. Scoring over 20 points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out five assists in the first half, Dončić became the latest player to join an elite list.

He now joins Lakers legends Anthony Davis (2020) and Kobe Bryant (2004) as the only players in franchise history to achieve such a feat in a playoff half, solidifying his place among the game’s greatest.

Dončić vs. Timberwolves: Head-to-Head Career Stats

Dončić has always brought a little extra spice when facing the Timberwolves. Over 18 career matchups, he’s averaged 23.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.0 assists—but some nights, he’s gone way beyond the average.

One of his best came in January 2019, then-rookie, Luka dropped 29 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds, showing early signs of the all-around force he’d become.

A few years later in March 2022, even on an off shooting night (just 5-of-17 from the field), he still managed 10 assists which is a classic example of how Luka controls the game even when the shot isn’t falling.

Dončić’s last 10 games vs. the Timberwolves:

    • Jan 7, 2024 – 34 pts, 6 rebs, 8 asts
