Bronny James is heading into his second season in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers.
On Wednesday evening, the Lakers lost a preseason game to the Dallas Mavericks (in Las Vegas) by a score of 121-94.
Right before the game tipped off, it was revealed that Bronny is dealing with an ankle injury.

What Happed To Bronny?
Via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin: “JJ Redick says the starters tonight are Knecht, Hachimura, Vanderbilt, Hayes and Vincent. Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia and Marcus Smart are out for rest. Bronny James tweaked his ankle in PHX and is also out.”

Bronny had been coming off a game where he had seven points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block while shooting 3/8 from the field and 0/2 from the three-point range in 22 minutes against the Suns.
I’s very possible that Bronny would have been able to play if Wednesday was a regular season game.
The former USC guard finished his rookie year with averages of 2.3 points per contest while shooting 31.3% from the field and 28.1% from the three-point range in 27 games.
The Lakers finished the preseason with a 1-4 record in their five games.
They will now return home to host Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors on October 21 in Los Angeles.
Via @NBALakersReport (on October 13): “Bronny James was going OFF in the G-League last season, including this Masterclass 🔥 👑 39 PTS 👑 7 REB 👑 4 AST 👑 4 STL 👑 1 BLK 👑 14/21 FG (66.7%) 👑 4/8 3PM (50.0%) His confidence continues to grow as he enters year 2 📈”
Despite having a high-profile roster, the Lakers had a tough ending the 2025 season when they lost to Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.
Bronny averaged 21.9 points per contest while shooting 44.3% from the field and 38.0% from the three-point range in 11 G League games (as a rookie).
