It’s the final weekend before the NBA regular season begins, which means you’re coming here for your fantasy basketball drafts.
Should you draft Lonzo Ball this season? Here’s the latest outlook, projections, and rankings for the Cleveland Cavaliers Point Guard.
Should You Draft Lonzo Ball in Fantasy Basketball?
After missing back-to-back seasons, Lonzo Ball returned in 2024-25 with the Chicago Bulls and proved that he can still contribute to an NBA team. While he only appeared in 35 games and played just 22.2 minutes a night, it was good to see Ball healthy again, and he averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds. 3.3 assists, 1.9 3s, and 1.3 steals on 36.6/34.4/81.5 shooting splits.
This offseason, Ball was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, giving him a chance to play for a contender for the first time in his NBA career. However, fantasy managers should stay away from Ball, as he is expected to have a limited role. The Cavs want to manage his minutes and keep him healthy, just as the Bulls did last season. Darius Garland is sidelined for the start of the season after undergoing surgery on his toe in June, but Donovan Mitchell is expected to slide over to point guard and start instead of Ball. While Ball could become a key reserve for the Cavs in real life, there are better options for fantasy managers given his limited ceiling.
