NBA Legend Boldly Claims LeBron James Is ‘Living Long Enough To Be the Villain’ of the Lakers Amid Historic 23rd Season

An NBA legend said LeBron James has played long enough to be viewed as the villain, reflecting his polarizing career.

LeBron James is currently playing in his 23rd NBA season. He now holds the record for the most seasons played by any NBA player and is also the league’s oldest active player. Although James has yet to announce his retirement, speculation suggests he could return to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a farewell tour next season. This possibility stems largely from his strained relationship with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Several reports indicate that the King and the Lakers’ front office are not on good terms. An NBA legend weighed in on the situation, noting that James has been in the league long enough to attract significant criticism, even referencing the movie “The Dark Knight” in his remarks.

Carmelo Anthony Thinks LeBron James Will Go Back to Cleveland

Throughout his career, James has been a polarizing figure. While many fans admire the 41-year-old star, others remain critical of him. NBA legend Carmelo Anthony observed that many fans now view James as the villain.

Anthony noted that it may be time for James to leave Los Angeles, arguing that he was never fully embraced by the fan base. He expressed hope that James will return to his roots with the Cavaliers for what could be his final run in the league.

“He’s living long enough to be the villain,” Anthony said. “That’s what he’s doing. He’s doing everything at the top. Still holding this league down. This league don’t move without Bron. I don’t give a f**k what nobody say. It don’t move without Bron. Until he’s gone. His position in this game is bigger than wins and losses throughout the season.

“If you’re going to be mad at him for leaving LA, what the f**k are you mad about?” Anthony added. “You see the writing on the wall because of the influence that’s out there. Y’all pushing him out in a sense. Y’all never accepted him in LA anyway, from the beginning.”

James has not revealed his plans beyond the 2025-26 season. He is currently playing on an expiring contract and reportedly has no intention of re-signing with the Lakers.

It also remains unclear whether this will be James’ final year in the NBA. He has remained quiet about his future since the season began.
