LeBron James and Savannah James’ Relationship Timeline: How They Met, When They Got Married, and More

A full timeline of LeBron James and Savannah James’ relationship, from their high school meeting to marriage, family life, and more.

LeBron James and Savannah James have one of the longest and most admired relationships in sports. Their story didn’t begin with fame or championships. It started quietly, back when they were teenagers, long before LeBron became one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Inside LeBron and Savannah James’ Relationship Through the Years

LeBron and Savannah first met in high school in Akron, Ohio, back in 2002. Savannah was a 16-year-old sophomore, and LeBron was a year older, attending a rival school, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. They were introduced through mutual friends.

LeBron initially asked a friend for Savannah’s phone number, but she flipped the script and got his number instead. Savannah later said she decided to call him one day out of boredom, and that simple call changed both of their lives. LeBron invited Savannah to one of his basketball games, and she agreed. Later that night, they hung out with friends at Applebee’s.

A few weeks later, they went on their first official date at Outback Steakhouse. Savannah quickly felt something special. She once joked that she knew LeBron loved her when he returned her leftover food after dinner just to see her again.

Their relationship grew as LeBron’s basketball career began to take off. In 2004, while still very young, the couple welcomed their first child, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr.

Three years later, on June 14, 2007, they had their second son, Bryce Maximus. Through it all, Savannah stayed by LeBron’s side as his NBA journey took him from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat and later back to Cleveland.

In 2011, LeBron proposed to Savannah during a star-filled New Year’s Eve party. Even with all his confidence on the basketball court, LeBron admitted he was nervous. He later told Oprah Winfrey that proposing felt like playing in the NBA Finals.

The couple officially got married on Sept. 14, 2013, in San Diego, California. Their wedding was a lavish three-day celebration attended by around 200 guests, including NBA stars, coaches, and celebrities. The highlight of the night came when Beyoncé and Jay-Z performed “Crazy in Love” at the reception.

In 2014, their family grew again with the birth of their daughter, Zhuri Nova, on October 22. Savannah has often spoken about how important family is to their relationship. She once described LeBron as “a king to his queen,” while LeBron has consistently praised Savannah as his rock and biggest support system.

Now parents to Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri, LeBron and Savannah have been together for more than 23 years.

King James is currently in his 23rd NBA season, the longest career in league history, and has won four NBA championships. Through every high and low, their bond has remained strong, built on trust and mutual respect.
